There is no need to obtain a "suspension ring" as your piece is complete "as is". I believe that this is how these pieces were awarded.

i believe there should be a third (larger) ring above the oval. it hangs paralell to the ring which is affixed to the cross.

yet here is an image from my waldorf-astoria 'orden' cigarette card album. perhaps the earlier (1900+) version without swords had only two rings? or the third ring could quite possibly be due to a jeweler's whim. p.s. or for use on a medal bar?

I think the additional ring on the W?rttemberg merit cross is an added one, for better mounting.
