Guest Rick Research Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Just got this in, without the Medal, alas."Female-civilian" (!!! "Vol'nonaemnaya") Aleksandra Iosifovna Bondarenko was awarded Military Merit Medal #2,462,526 by decree of the 1st far Eastern Front on 20 September 1945.Note that the standard printed form still refers to "German occupiers" rather than "Japanese militarists." Issued by GUARDS Lieutenant General Nikolaev (see Steen Ammentorps's EXCELLENT websitehttp://www.generals.dk/as Commander of Bases/Depot/Etappen of the 1st Far Eastern Front.Comrade Bondarenko is listed-- a first in my experince as a CIVILIAN--literally--and NOt a typist, housekeeper, Colonel's-bed-warmer etc etc etc.
Paul R Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 That is a really cool piece Rick!! Where did you find that one?
Ed_Haynes Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 (edited) Very interesting. So often, I guess, these temporary certificates carried a good bit of information. Almost worth trying to get this one researched, merely on the basis of the document? Not sure it would work, though? Edited April 10, 2009 by Ed_Haynes
