    Something a little bit different - thoughts?

    Fyi, after examining the cross, I believe the hardware to be original (not replacements) and the paint to also be original (not repainted). Non-ferrous base-metal. Flat-backed.

    Hi Mike, very interesting... I would agree that all pieces look period, pre-1930's.... but I also think that's a cast piece, maybe Weimar era?

    Yes, there's a good chance this one was cast. All the cut-outs and edges are hand-done, so it makes it difficult to be 100% either way though (it may be die-struck and hand finished as well). You are likely correct on the period too.

    For me it is a cast piece, out of the Weimar area.

    Has anyone ever seen one of these made of silver?

    I've seen a few in photos that appear to be grayish with contrasting highlights. I don't know if they are private purchase or just worn.
