Mike K Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Something a little bit different - thoughts?Fyi, after examining the cross, I believe the hardware to be original (not replacements) and the paint to also be original (not repainted). Non-ferrous base-metal. Flat-backed.RegardsMikeObverse...
Stogieman Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hi Mike, very interesting... I would agree that all pieces look period, pre-1930's.... but I also think that's a cast piece, maybe Weimar era?
Mike K Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Hi Rick,Yes, there's a good chance this one was cast. All the cut-outs and edges are hand-done, so it makes it difficult to be 100% either way though (it may be die-struck and hand finished as well). You are likely correct on the period too.RegardsMike
Stogieman Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Milke, is that a maker mark on the "C-catch" or just a dimple?

Mike K Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Maybe this will help put things in perspective?RegardsMike
ccj Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Has anyone ever seen one of these made of silver?I've seen a few in photos that appear to be grayish with contrasting highlights. I don't know if they are private purchase or just worn.
