Guest Rick Research Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I'm not aware of anyone bothering to fake these.
Alfred Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I like both medals.Yes, they are faked. There is nearly nothing which is not faked yet. Also there are now complete faked Red Stars with high serial numbers on ebay.KDVR, here is a comparision between a faked one and an original. The leaves are missing details and there are some other defects.regardsAndreas
Guest Rick Research Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 :Cat-Scratch: God, what next? Fake 1988 jubilee medals?
RedMaestro Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Yes, they are faked. There is nearly nothing which is not faked yet. Also there are now complete faked Red Stars with high serial numbers on ebay. Are these faked Red Stars obvious, or are they good enough to pass as original? I've seen tons with the original s/n removed an new ones engraved, but have they really gone so far as to make the whole thing from scratch? Could you please post examples of such, if you have seen them? Thanks!-Alex
Alfred Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Here are three Red Stars with same serial numbers sold as copies.regardsAndreas
Guest Rick Research Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Cast? What do the fronts look like? (Thread title changed since can't split the two subjects up neatly.)
Guest Rick Research Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 :Cat-Scratch: EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWYUCK !!!!!!
Ferdinand Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 I have never understood the point of buying (and making) these. They are selling for 15-20 USD on eBay. They are UGLY and for only three times that amount you have a real one...
Alfred Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 (edited) I have never understood the point of buying (and making) these. They are selling for 15-20 USD on eBay. They are UGLY and for only three times that amount you have a real one...Profit makes the world go around !They look cast. I think they cast dem with serial number, as the number looks equal on all pices. So mass production for little money.I think in most cases they sell them with bad pictures of the front side. It looks not so bad as reverse. And some beginners could easyly fooled.regardsAndreas Edited May 23, 2009 by Alfred
RedMaestro Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Thanks for the pictures! I recognize these from ebay. They are UGLY indeed! When fake red stars were first brought up I thought a faker might have finally made one that could easily pass as authentic. Thankfully, that hasn't happened yet...but it is only a matter of time -Alex
