Hauptmann
Another quick question on this one. The owner has heard somewhere that "original" copies by this maker could be worth up to $400. I think this is incorrect... I believe I've seen these or similar before but just passing along what he's been told.Is there any truth to this or is this just a common fake and worth little or nothing? Again any help most appreciated!!!! Dan
Mike K
WTH is an "original copy"???Originals are easily US$500+Fakes, maybe US$20The example above is a repro meant to deceive, but is easily given away by incorrect hardware, poor obverse details and blurry maker mark.RegardsMike

I basically thought the same thing when he told me this. But I understand as he's normally not into militaria... western memorabilia is more his thing. He got this stuff and now he's seeing alot of the German end up bad. He knew going in some was but I can understand how disappointing it is. But he's treating it as a learning experience so he'll be better prepared in future.I think it comes down to grasping at straws. I know we've all been there at some point or another along the way. Many thanks for helping out!!! Dan

The front may say "repro", but the back with the maker mark is trying to deceive and present itself as original. (It's one thing to go to a costume party dressed as "Marc Anthony", it's another to try to grab a queen and say you are the legitimate ruler of Egypt.)You can get into trouble when you venture outside your area of interest and knowledge in an attempt to get a "deal". A long time ago I bought some Imp. German postage stamps...STAMPS! I don't know what I was thinking, and find out later that they were basically worthless.
