avadski
Hi fellas, what do you think of this one? There are some 'things' I don't like about it e.g. poor quality of avers center or 'worn-out' gold plating but i'm sure there are more experienced experts here than myself...Thanks for feedback in advance. medalnet
I believe the 1st class crosses have to have a real golden center for the most part. Edited July 16, 2009 by medalnet
Guest Rick Research
That has arisen over and over again without documentation. If some did, most don't. Von Hessenthal and Schreiber make no mention of any such thing.
medalnet
Well, as mentioned, before, there will eventually be a book about this topic, answering all questions. I would personally not buy any 1st class crosses without real golden center. The bavarians were very peculiar about the way order decorations were produced. Keep in mind it always was and still is the wealthiest state within Germany ; )
avadski
Guys, thanks for your thoughts so far.Medalnet...could you please post some pictures of MVK1 with golden center? I have never seen one...
Bernd D
This MVK is ok. It is an MVK with silver gilt center. Everything is fine.

Wild Card
Not being aware of all of the intricacies of this order and still awaiting for the absolutely definitive study (Medalnet) on the subject I would like to turn to your collective knowledge. Wild Card
I can not find any marks on the cross, but here is a raised ?GH? on one of the swords.
medalnet
Wild Card, that is the one I am talking about....real gold center! Those are rather easy to evaluate. The other one is good, too, by the way. Bernd D, already said it.
