Thierry Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Bonjour,Do you identify all awards on Sowjet Generalleutant ?- Lenin Order (3),- Red Banner Order (4),- 20 year Juilee Red Army,- ???,- Defence of Moscow,- ???,- ???,- ???.Breast Order ???- Hero of Soviet Union ???CrdlThierry
JimZ Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 This is Semyon Konstantinovic Timoshenko recipient of the Order of Victory (Breast). He does not look like any other OoV recipient that I can tell!Note how the postition of his HSU, ODMs and Order of Victory are IDENTICAL in every sense of the word not only positioning but also lighting and all.Yet I have never seen a picture of him with hair (if he is the same person portrayed by Thierry) As far as I can tell orders are:HSULenin x 3ORB x 420 Yrs RKKADefence of CaucusesVictory over GermanyLeningrad*Budapest* Vienna*OoV*Hard to say from the picture but my best guess...Will someone confirm if it is Timoshenko?
Guest Rick Research Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Yup-- hair and glasses airbrushed in. :speechless1:
JimZ Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Yup-- hair and glasses airbrushed in. Oh Crap! The OoV made it easy to pin point the man! Also note other differences such as the shoulder boards, the Marshals' star and the first Suvorov (top left) as well as the second Suvorov (middle left).Rick, would this be a period picture or someone just mucking about? Got a clue?Thierry, where did you come across this picture?
Thomas Symmonds Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Hello Gentlemen. That is incredible! So THEY are out there faking photos now too. I would not have imagined that.Is this a fairly common occurance? Who do THEY claim this "new" chap is?regardsThomas
JimZ Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Its straight out of wiki.....Waiting for Thierry to tell us how he came across it.
Thierry Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 (edited) Bonjour,I thought well of a fake, because the medals of defence and capture were created in 1944 or 1945,moreover while being captured July 1942 and being regarded as traitor,it could not have received themseePhoto assembly of General Andrey Andreyevich Vlasovsee : http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=155440CrdlThierry Edited July 24, 2009 by Thierry
JimZ Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrey_VlasovIts not as though he did not exist. Neither does it seem that the guy is trying to sell the pic (although I did not read every word of it!)Beats me why they would need to fake that pic. Also, whoever faked the pic knows very little about Soviet ODMs.
