    Hi everybody,

I have recently bought this nice group of documents of Hauptmann Ottmar Freidrich Deissner.

    Born on 16.07.1880

    Fähnrich : 22.11.1899

    Leutnant : 24.08.1900

    Oberleutnant : 23.04.1909

    Hauptmann : 1.10.1913

    Major : 30.07.1920

    a. D. : 31.03.1920

Our man served first in the FAR Nr. 32 then in FAR Nr. 78

He received the following medals during the war :

    Both iron crosses

Knight cross of St Henry, 30.08.1917

Crown to knight cross 1st class with X of ALbert of Saxe, 23.05.1917

Knight cross 1st class with X of ALbert of Saxe, 3.05.1915

Cross of 4th class with X Military Merit of Bavaria, 29.10.1918

Friedrich cross 2nd class of Anhalt, 28.08.1915

    Enjoy with it

:Cat-Scratch: Ah! Two awards that Erhard Roth did not know about-- AK and BMV4X! Notice that NO aunit is given on the AK document :banger: and as usual the BMV4X has the regular officer's pre-war unit listed, not where he really was.

I last turn up Deißner as a Polizei-Major with Saxon Landespolizei in Chemnitz in 1925.

"Deißner as a Polizei-Major with Saxon Landespolizei in Chemnitz in 1925" : thanks for the info Rick. Now I have to find the date of his death and if he survived after 1934 what has he done.

Ahh, but THAT was like the BMV4X versus BMV4XmKr-- depending on whether it was a FIRST award (as you mention) or... a SECOND award of the same class. Crowns as second awards to SA3aXs were quite common for Saxon Hauptleute-- though I'm not sure how they came up with decisions about whether to give a second Albert rather than an SV3aX. The Saxons were rather odd in NOT strictly adhering to rigid steps in being decorated.

    Hi

I have now a "famous chest" of Deißner's medals. The first photo is with boxes and paper and the second without. Enjoy
