Claudio Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) Dear forumites, Herewith I am showing a picture which came with a group of documents I recently acquired. I guess that for some members here, it would be quite easy to identify this General. Thank you very much in advance for your most appreciated assistance. Ciao, Claudio Edited October 15, 2009 by Claudio
Guest Rick Research Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Yes yes (Yoda voice) easy it is, after 30 or so years of selfless devotion to The Force. Sascha will be jealous, since this was one of his Homeboys-- Generalleutnant (General der Artillerie in October 1919) Karl Bansi (1861-1939). Noteworthy are: his "jumped over" KO3 still hanging in there with RAO2EX... and the weird Saxon War Effort Cross ahead of his Baden pair. That "SK" was SUPPOSED to have only been awarded when no other Saxon war award was held-- and was SUPPOSED to have been RETURNED when one-- here "SA2aX" was made subsequently. His WF2aX was gazetted in March 1918, so this dates from the last year of the war.
Claudio Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 Thank you Rick! I knew that I could rely on your elephant like memory or cobra-like sense of observation... ;-)
VJK Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Hi, Can anyone please provide some biographical info on Bansi - DoB, DoD, date of retirement, commands held, etc. A Google search provides surprisingly little on this General. Many thanks in advance, Best regards, VJK
Guest Rick Research Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Born 15 June 1861. Died 21 March 1945. SecLt 04.10.80 PremLt 19.09.88 Hptm 18.04.93 Major 22.05.99 Kk OTL 27.01.06 R Oberst 27.01.09 D Generalmajor 22.04.12 O Generalleutnant 23.03.15 C General der Artillerie 20.10.19 Went from Fußart Rgt 8 briefly to the Prussian War Ministry in the late 1890s, to Fußart Rgt 14 as a Battalion Commander, Regimental Ccmmander of Fußart Rgt 2-- 16.02.07-31.03.11 Regimental Commander Fußart Rgt 17 01.04.11-31.03.12 Commander of 4th Foot Artillery Brigade 22.03.12 apparently to 15.02.17 "General der Artillerie Nr. 6" 16.-28.02.17 WF2aX in 1918 as Inspektor Fußartillerie Schießschulen-- since he was that sort of General, not surprising he doesn't turn up.

VJK Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Many thanks Rick, that's exactly the info I was looking for. Much appreciated. Best regards, VJK
Glenn J Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 As we speak, this is on ebay.de. Not named of course, but it is the then Major Karl Bansi in the uniform of the Foot Artillery School of Gunnery (Fußartillerie-Schießschule) around 1905. Regards Glenn
Leutwein Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Hi all, here is the picture without any red stripes and in better quality Best regards Karsten
