Paul C
I looked at the list and was very surprised to find this story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joachim_Boosfeld about a Waffen-SS officer who went into the Bundeswehr in 1956.
W McSwiggan
Thanks - guess I could have done that - huh? Must be getting old... Good (interesting) information. I found it on Wikipedia. peter monahan
Interesting that two of the surviving recipients were foreign volunteers - a Dane and an Estonian - and even more intersting that each is listed as living in his native country. Wonder what the neighbours think! :o
Harrier
There is a running thread on WAF (http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263920&highlight=living+knights+cross) keeping tabs on who is still alive and who has passed away.
