    Hello to everyone,

I am looking for comments on whether this medal is real or not.

Dan (Hauptman) brought up a good point about this medal. It looks like someone has brushed gold color on the front of this medal.

    Any information would be helpful

Looks like a casted fake to me.

Less detailes in the leaves conmpared to an original one. Sharp edges on the medal rim. The soldered ring is a give a way.

    regrads

In all the years that I lived there I only took the time to buy one of these... and it has nearly the same finish - but as Alfred just pointed out to me and I had to take it out and look - - yep the ring is different. :(

Also look at the rim on the reverse - it seems to be on only a section of it - not all the way around.

Dean, unfortunately I tend to agree with Alfred. See below my example. You can almost see what appear to be a casting line on the edge of yours on the reverse.

    Obv.

Yours is fine Hunyadi, the rim on the reverse is just another variation. You see these "rims" on Sebastopols as well. Unusual in the top ring appears off center on the obverse, but looks pretty close on the reverse.
