Bob Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 (edited) I bought the SB on Alexei's website which was boxed. Will post a pic later this week. It's an interesting little box... not a typical box and I presume not an "official" one but a very nice little box indeed so I presume the owner cared a lot for his SB.Edit: let me correct that statement... judging from the box, I suspect (male chauvinist speaking here) that it was awarded to a woman:). Now, if only we had research... Edited February 13, 2007 by Bob
Stogieman Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 I was wondering who snagged that one!! Congrats!!
Bob Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Here we go - not very sharp images but gives an impression
Ed_Haynes Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 That is a very "Chinese" box. I'd have to wonder about its legitimate match with a Mongolian award!
Bob Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 That is a very "Chinese" box. I'd have to wonder about its legitimate match with a Mongolian award!Agree - unfortunately another "story" we'll not easily get to the bottom of.
Ed_Haynes Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 This is a screwback or pinback? I forget the original listing? If pinback, if a nasty bronze SB, in neo-nationalist post-socialist reviley, I might see the box as legitimate (an act of "reaching out", culturally, to Han-occupied Inner Mongolia, etc.), but if a REAL screwback or real silver pinback, . . . ? Maybe an orphan badge just found a home? A warm place to sleep for the night? 'Tis cold in Ulanbaatar these days, despite Tsagaan Sar (greetings, by the way!). After his tomb got demolished, poor Sukhbaatar has needed a warm and padded place to reside?
Bob Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 It's a genuine pinback (1785 if I recall correctly)
Ed_Haynes Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 It's a genuine pinback (1785 if I recall correctly)OK, so a nice type 2. Actually, 'tis the box I feel uneasy with not the SB lovely! (These are AMAZING awards.)The nasty-brassy ones need to be better understood, as there are few numbered (starting up between 2006 and 2057?) out there, but most seen are unnumbered (escapees?).
