ph3s Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Gents, would someone recommend me a dealer, who sells socialist Hungarian millitaria please? I'm looking to buy a partisan badge
Hauptmann Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 (edited) Certainly... happy to. His name is Zsolt. He's one of our members as well. I'll PM you with his info. I've dealt with Zsolt on many occassions over the years and it's always been a pleasure dealing with him. His merchandise has always been just what I've been looking for. He ships things right out, packed safely and professionally. I highly recommend him. Dan Edited June 22, 2010 by Hauptman

hunyadi Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I will second Dan's opinion - Zsolt is a great guy to deal with. He has just about anything you may need. On Ebay he is "chroma2002" & his store is http://stores.ebay.com/Hungarian-Medals-Store If you dont already have a copy - I will also shamelessly plug that you buy one of my books on the History and Militaria of the HUPR (in English)
Hauptmann Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Hey Charles... thanks for jumping in! And allow me to second... and third and fourth and even fifth you on all you said including the "Buy My Book"! I for one have an extremely cherished copy that I read through over and over every chance I get. I'm always seeing and reading new things. It gives the history of the communist years in Hungary, covers the revolution and failure of same and back through the communist years again. I can't say enough good things about it. I for one absolutely cannot wait for a volume two adding even more goodies and details on the fascinating militaria of Hungary. And trust me when I say that buying the book will end up saving you money in the long run as do having references in any area of our hobby or any hobby for that matter. An educated collector will be able to make the most of every dollar he or she puts into the hobby. http://hungarianpeoplesrepublic.com/Hungarian-People's-Republic-Book.php And of course always remember we have a wonderful resource of helpful fellow HPR collectors right here. Dan
Greg Collins Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I'll jump in here and sing Zsolt's praises as well; over 70% of my Hungarian collection was bought from him. Extremely knowledgeable and, above all, honest and forthright. I continue to be one of his very satisfied customers. I would also strongly encourage you to purchase Charles' book, "Elvtars!". It is magnificent- a real "must have" for the Hungarian collector. The current volume deals with the period that covers the Partisan badge ('44-'56). I can hardly wait for the next volume (how long, Charles?).
ph3s Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Thanks gents, I got in contact, everything is great. One day probably, I might be interested in Hungarian awards. But for the moment I'm trying to complete my frame with socialist-partisan-badges. So far I got Czechoslovakian, Spomenica (Yugo and Albanian), Bulgarian star and Polish cross are in the post , I guess Hungarian early variation would be great addition to those.

An early version will be very difficult to find esp with the parachute attached. I recently scoured my sources and no one has one for sale. There was one at auction last year and it fetched a pretty penny in the tune of (if I recall correctly - dont have the auction book in hand) 300 euro
hunyadi Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Concering volume two - its going to take me thru this fall before I can begin working on it - the nice part about the Kadar era is that there are tons more sources of information than the Rakosi period. I regret that I cant begin working on it sooner but there is an item of family interest that has to be completed first before another book is published.
ph3s Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 I meant early 54s badge, numbered ones. I don't even though about the one with parachute on.
