Those are some really nice quality embroideries.

The top set of metallic wings look like US Marine Corps jump wings, to me.

The Parachutists corps pins here as shown

The top metal paratrooper wing is a chest wing and is found in gilt and silver.

The middle metal paratrooper wing is worn on the beret and is also found in gilt and silver.

The bottom metal wing is a Special Forces beret badge.

    Paul,

Even though similar in design, the US Marine Corp jump wings have a wider space between the parachute and wings at the top and the fletching of the outside row of feathers goes from the wingtip to the parachute risers. The gilt color is more accurate on the US Wings.

On the Iraqi made paratrooper wings the outside row of fletching only has five feathers on each side and doesn't go all the way to the parachute risers.

The first Wing at the top I believe is from Jordan, not Iraqi:

Wow, not only is this very nice, it's the first time I've seen the "falcon and dragon" commando logo DEFINITELY associated with Iraq. I've always thought there was some confusion between the Egyptian and Iraqi insignia, which are identical, but this proves to me that both countries used it. Thanks!

The dragon and falcon logo are for Thunder Troops. There isn't much info on these formations, but they were said to be commando type units similar to U.S. Army Rangers or Royal marine Commando's. Here are some of my Thunders insignia, all from Iraq. Scott

    Lorenzo,

I have the translation for your metal decorate.

Above: Unity Arabian Nation with Immortal Mission

Below the Thunder Emblem: unity- freedom-socialism

    Below: Iraqi Special Forces Gift.

Hi Bob, call me Captain Obvious, but it would seem that Special Forces and Thunders are one in the same and not different formations as previously thought. I would still have to wonder about paras though... Sometimes I see Special Forces used with the Eagle/Dragon symbol and other times I see Special Forces used with the Eagle/Parachute symbol, and it seems that just about everyone wears wings! I also see that many of the "Special Forces" units carry Republican Guard designations. It's all clear as mud to meunsure.gif . Scott.

    Scott,

It is my understanding that the "Thunder Troops" are a special unit inside the Special Forces.

They were a QRF quick reaction force, from Israelis bomb missions in Iraq to hold order and to be prepared to attack Israel at a moment’s notice.

    Lorenzo,

If these are the same insignia, why do the wings have a torch in the center and the button has a crown above the wings?

The Wings are the Republic and the button is from the Kingdom Era. I just posted the set with the button, image was provided by a freind who has a little trouble posting on forums
