    Welcome to the GMIC! Having just started this summer; you are doing well!

    Let me ask, what has made you focus on Bulgaria as you start collecting?

    Thank you for the welcome!

    I'm very interested in the Cold War era, so I started out looking at some Soviet stuff. (I have a couple of common medals from them.) Then I was looking around at some other Soviet bloc countries and found Bulgaria. They were much cheaper in general and I fell in love with their awards. Also I might cause some trouble by saying it, but their counterparts to the Soviet awards sometimes have a better looking design.

    I don't think you'll cause any trouble here with having an opinion or preference. That's what GMIC is all about. If you have a passion for something, you'll learn more about it and then we learn too! :catjava:

    For example, I've not had any interest previously in Bulgarian awards, but your post has given me a chance to take a look at some. Thanks again.

    Wellcome to forum! I also started with Bulgaria this summer and I can only share your opinion about the beauty of these awards. You already have some nice pieces there, the numbered red banner and Peshev grouping - can you post a bigger picture of newspaper clipping?

    Thank you all for the warm welcomes.

    Valter- Yes, I'll get a picture as soon as possible. I don't even know what it says but it was a cool extra for the grouping.

    The title says "awarded with orders". When you post bigger pic, we'll try to translete the rest. :cool:

    Okay, here is the newspaper article.

    It says:

    "By the instance of fulfilling round number of years and for active participation in fight against fashism and capitalism as well as building socialism, the State council issued orders ot award to Petar Mančev Grančarov, dr. Nikola Valčev Terpešev and engineer Petar Nikolov Statev with order »People republic of Bulgaria«, 1st degree.

    The same order, 2nd degree, is given to Boris Tomov Markov for the instance of his 70th birthday and for active participation in fight ...(as above)

    The order »People republic of Bulgaria« 3rd degree, gets Kalister Georgiev Pešev for the instance of his 70th birthday and (as the above)"

    č = ch

    š = sh

    The clip matches with documents and everything, it's a really nice grouping! :beer:
