Rosenberg Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Hi,this is the 40mm iron version of the Denkm?nze f?r Verdienste um das Hundewesen.I know,it is quite rare and I have been able to only find very scarce information on it.I understand there were two types.I have seen iron and zinc made ones. Can anyone tell me,if the types correspond with material or do they differ in design? And while we are at,which type is this one here?
Rosenberg Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 I deleted the pics as there is no interest in this item.It is quite sad that you guys seldomly feel like answering a question.........this sadness exludes Scowen as I really appreciate his input!!Maybe I will leave this place....I don?t really belong here I guess....
Scowen Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I'm sorry that no one replied. I didn't as non portable awards & desk medals are not an area that I have any knowledge in.Political & Social awards like this are a specialised collecting area so it can take a while to find others with an interest in the same area.I would ask you to reconsider leaving & give us a little more time. I am trying to attract more collectors of this field but it takes time to build a reputation & to attract members.CheersDon
Ed_Haynes Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Yes, for "fringe" items it may take more than two days to get a useful response.
Rosenberg Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 Thanks for your response Don! Problem simply is 80% of my items are "fringe" or whatever you may call them.I have been waiting for someone with similar interests, but there is none,I understand that and it is not a problem to me.It is just I am fed up with asking and showing without a efficent result for me.I have been collecting for myself without the internet and I will do so in the future!Don,again, you are the man out here to me,got deep respect for you and I understand your lack of participation is just because you are not into a particular item.Regards
Rosenberg Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 Don,I guess I will stay in read-only mode,so I can follow your fantastic items from time to time
TobyR Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 (edited) Hi Guys,I just saw the title of this thread, thought to myself, sounds interesting. No pics though! Rosenberg please consider reposting the images. I like the more unusual too. I just don't get around to checking the forums out so often. All the best,Toby. Edited January 12, 2006 by TobyR
Gerd Becker Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 (edited) Hi Guys,I just saw the title of this thread, thought to myself, sounds interesting. No pics though! Rosenberg please consider reposting the images. I like the more unusual too. I just don't get around to checking the forums out so often. All the best,Toby.Rosenberg,i agree completely with Toby. I like the unusual too, but i am very rarely able to comment on these kind of items. I don?t want to leave only "WOW! Nice piece!" posts on the whole forum. Stay with us and show us more Gerd Edited January 12, 2006 by Gerd Becker
Rosenberg Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 Guys ok.Gerd you got me.So here are the pics again....enjoy...
Rosenberg Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 I very much like the above shown front for its similarities with the eagle depicted on warrant-discs,here?s the back...
Rosenberg Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 Yes,it was an official award, awarded either by the supreme command of the army or the navy.It may very well be that I posted in the wrong section as I initially was uncertain whether recipients were either military or civilians.I have seen two award documents in a book and both were awarded by the signal troops to a policeman and a signalling member. That?s why it might have been awarded to service personal in conection with dogs. But that?s merely a guess...
Wood Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 So here is another one that has avoided being listed in any of my award books. One to look for. Thanks,Pete
Scowen Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Thanks for reposting your images Hopefully you'll stay with us for a little longer CheersDon
Gerd Becker Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Guys ok.Gerd you got me.So here are the pics again....enjoy... I found it in my H?sken-cataloge from 1999. He lists three versions in three different sizes, but he doesn?t give any measurements. He only says big, medium, small size. They are rare. I haven?t seen one in years.Gerd
Guest WAR LORD Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Good to see this rare piece. It would possibly be a thought if table or non portable items were in their own section. THE MASONIC THREAD HAS DONE RATHER WELL.
Rosenberg Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 I agree a non-portable section would make sense, but I must also say that it is a vast field and I haven?t really met someone with say the least having an overview of all the non-portable stuff.Literally every branch has more or less non-portables and I never found any books on this topic. Thanks Gerd.Mine is 40mm in diameter and I have seen one of 60mm .I don?t know on which end to add the third one.Cheers
Scowen Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Mine is 40mm in diameter 40 mm!!!..... That's tiny I was expecting it to be about 100 mm, just shows how without scale it's difficult to judge a size of some of these awards.CheersDon
Gerd Becker Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 40 mm!!!..... That's tiny I was expecting it to be about 100 mm, just shows how without scale it's difficult to judge a size of some of these awards.CheersDonI guess, its the medium version, as the one in H?skens cataloge shows the big version, which is probably the 60 mm version. So there is probably an even smaller medal. He gives a value of 900 DM, but his prices were high back then, but the market prices now are quite close to his in Euro . For example, he says a Paratrooper-badge is 600 DM and today its 300-400 Euro.Gerd
Scowen Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Received these images from a friend today. He gave me permission to post these here for the members to see. Thanks Joe Don
Gerd Becker Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I think, the OKH Medal for Hundewesen was an official medal and the one, Don shows is some kind of winner-medal of an exhibition(kleintierschau-exibition for small pets). I have never seen such a medal, thanks, Don Gerd
Rosenberg Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 Don,thanks for showing this one.I haven?t seen this before, but the design reminds of the Reichsn?hrstand medals for winning exhibitions on agricultural products.Gerd, thanks for the info on the value.Cheers
