Megan Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Medaille für Kämpfer gegen Faschismus 1933-45 Instituted: 1958.
Greg Collins Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 An example with ribbon bar and, though still a first type, a different latch on the back of the medal support. The first type (Bartel 165a) has a ribbon width of 28mm (1958). The second type (Bartel 165b) has a ribbon width of 24mm (1959-90)
Paul R Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Beautiful examples. How difficult are those to find these days??
Greg Collins Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Paul, Since you're showing the rating badge of a Chief Hospital Corpsman in the Coast Guard, I'm going to assume you're on the same side of the pond as I am... in which case these can be quite hard to come by. I'd suggest you look at the German location of our favorite auction site- you may find one there more easily. These, like many of the earlier DDR awards, are becoming somewhat rare.
Paul R Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Thanks Greg. This is one of the few medals I do not have. I have always wanted one, but just never went for it. How much are they going for now? Yes, I am on the same side of the pond, but on west coast for now.
speedytop Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Hi Paul, when I search in ebay.de, I can find 3 offers, all 3 you can buy direct, for 90, 65 and 45 euros. The last is from Hans Worbes. And there I can find the badge for 40 Euros: http://shop.strato.d.../B%281%29.0228a Uwe
Paul R Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Thanks Uwe. I will have to get off of the ship to access Ebay. It sounds as if there are some good buys still out there!
