KIR Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) Chris, I think it's the silver merite cross of Bulgaria!??? Maybe like this one: Order of Military Merit 1891 Silver Merit Cross :: Bulgaria :: Foreign Medals and Decorations :: Liverpool Medals :: Military Medals :: Medal Dealers :: Medals for Sale At first I was thinking this one (but the ribbon don't match): Ehrenkreuz (Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen) mit Schwertern 1876 For the rest we need close-ups! The regiment is (maybe) the 7. Thüringische Inf.-Regt. Nr.96 IR 96 – GenWiki Is there a "96" on the shoulderboards!? Best regards, Jens Edited March 17, 2011 by KIR
Beau Newman Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 The spange appears to be the Reuss 3rd Class Long Service Award for 9 years with the cypher of Heirich XIV. Reuss stuck with these up to 1917, several years after the other states had gone away from the spanges.
Beau Newman Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 The 1st medal is probably the Reuss gold or silver Verdienst Medal on the peacetime purple ribbon.
922F Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 The Bulgarian Military Merit Order is on the regular Order ribbon, not the war service [Military Bravery Order]ribbon. Possibly a pre-war award?
