Paul R Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 I want to take a few moments to post my Blue Division Medal. From what I understand, there were only two types. There was one with the maker mark of "1" and an unmarked version.(please do correct me if I am wrong!!!This one is a zinc version. I do not know if there was a tombac version.
Ed_Haynes Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Interesting post. But do these belong here or in the "Other Axis" sub-forum? Or maybe even "SCW"? A "German" or "fascist ally" award?
Paul R Posted January 14, 2006 Author Posted January 14, 2006 jacques,Thank you for posting your example! Is it maker marked? Is it tombac or are you locky enough to have a zinc version with it's gilt?Ed, I think that you are correct... I will move the thread!RegardsPaul
Jacques Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 the medal is marked "1" on the ring and looks in zinc
Paul R Posted January 14, 2006 Author Posted January 14, 2006 jacques,Thank you for the information! So we have the same maker.Keep em coming!
Wood Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 (edited) Here's one of mine, no maker mark, but a Deschler. Edited January 14, 2006 by wood
Paul R Posted January 14, 2006 Author Posted January 14, 2006 Very nice! Most of the finish is still present!!
Wood Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 A mini, buttonhole fixing, probably Spanish made.
Wood Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 And one more for Marcus, the packet.Regards,Pete
Paul R Posted January 15, 2006 Author Posted January 15, 2006 Wood,Interesting button hole medal! The medal packet is a nice touch!!!
Wood Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Tought I may as well tack this on the end. This is the Spanish award for Russia.I picked this up nearly 40 years ago, when nobody knew what they were. At least it looks like an old piece!Regards,Pete
Paul R Posted January 18, 2006 Author Posted January 18, 2006 Nice Example of this award! Most of them were Spanish post war makes! Yours appear to be one of those hard to find period pieces!!!
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Is there a big difference between the Spanish madeand german made? I just remember the thin and thick rings on them...
Paul R Posted November 28, 2006 Author Posted November 28, 2006 I think there would be a difference in the overall quality as well(sharpness of contours and etc). I would be interested to know the differences as well!
