rujab Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 Hi Chris Thank you , I think I'II be old
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I ppicked up another EK2 doc today... nice as it is from September 1916. My others are December 16 and April 17 (Although the April guy was at Souville)
dond Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 A piece of crap to commemorate an infamous slaughter. Funny how military disasters foster all sorts of commemoratives and high awards.
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 very nice indeed!! I am sticking to documents, but the regiments badges are really nice.
dante Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Just got one, not from a new source but from a collector who has shown his already also a picture of one being worn.........
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Sorry, forgot to post the Souville Heights one.....

Chip Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Hello Andreas,I am looking forward to seeing your Militärpaß!Chip
The Prussian Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) Hello Chip!I think it´s nothing special, but the listings of the Souville battle. First he was in 117, then in R81 and later in 1918 in R88.Probably it´ll arrive on wednesday or thursday Edited April 13, 2015 by The Prussian
The Prussian Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) Note the promotion from 17.4.1918."Wegen Tapferkeit vor dem Feinde zum etatmäßigen Unteroffizier befördert"Because of braverey in front of the enemy, promoted to "budgetary NOC"How do I translate "etatmäßig" correctly?:"budgetary" or "on the establishment"? His injuries:9.6.18: südwestl. Rollot verwundet A.G. rechte Wange (southwest of Rollot wounded at the right cheek by artillerie-shell). Rollot is near Montdidier (Somme, Picardie); A.G. means "Artillerie-Geschoß" (shell)3.10.18: verwundet linker Arm und rechtes Bein (wounded left arm and right leg) Edited April 19, 2015 by The Prussian
Chip Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 The "Vocabulary of German Military Terms and Abbreviations" 1917-18 translates etatsmäßigen as "on the establishment". I assume this means on the permanent rolls as an Unteroffizier.Chip
The Prussian Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Thanx Chip! That is the problem. Probably you don´t have that term in the US army. Would you translate it in the same way?
