On the reverse is a note included in Mongolian – maybe give some more clues?

Bob Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Finally, a 1957 document with a ton of entries from 1957 all the way to 1972. Some kind of labor document? And that's all for now. May post some more docs later. Will also have to get the complete set out and do some matching of badges with documents and overall cataloguing. If anybody has access to SB 516, 1186 or 1507... please let me know! Still have home to get the group more complete slowly but surely over time. Sofar, with use of multiple sources, there's been some good success but a long way to go. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2012/post-679-0-82295700-1336087930.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2012/post-679-0-00539500-1336087933.jpg

Both photos date back to 1977 (one has the year mentioned on it in handwritten note, also referring to the venue). It's the photo with Tsedenbal on the left of the speaker. The venue is the Army Party conference. The photo with Tsedenbal is taken (based on the banner of the conference in the background) during the opening of the conferences of the party grassroots secretaries of the armed forces and ministry of public security. Jamyan is on the right of the speaker in the background - along with various other hotshots seated around Tsedenbal: - Army General Dorj - Lt General Yondonduicher - Col Gen Bataa - Gen Namsari - three Soviet Generals / advisors - etc. The second photo shows Jamyan on the far left, then Army General Dorj, Member of Political Bureau Jalan-Aajav, Lt General Yondonduicher (standing, making the speech), Lt Gen Yondon and General Danzan.

Bob Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 Below is the translation of the Ukaz on awarding J. Jamyan (then Major) with the Order of the Polar Star in October 1945. The ukaz lists Mongolian Soviet NKVD and Border Guard officers and soldiers who have distinguished themselves in the war against Japan. These awards on the ukaz are primarily combat awards. Because the ukaz pertains to NKVD employees and soldiers, it does not provide the positions but just the ranks and names. ===================== DECREE OF THE PRESIDIUM OF THE STATE SMALL KHURAL OF THE MONGOLIAN PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC October 4, 1945. # 83, Ulaanbaatar On awarding the generals, officers, sergeants and privates of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Border Guard Troops for active service in the war against Germany and Japan To award the generals, officers, sergeants and privates of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Border Guard Troops who accomplished assignments of the Party and Government for protecting the state border, ensuring the security of front rear and augmenting the efforts of the army in the war against Fascist Germany and Imperialist Japan. Bob Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Will be posting more research on Jamyan... translated decrees of awarding to Jamyan: results of the archival research. Attached are the following: 1) Honorary Medal of Combat - 1947. 2) Order of Sukhbaatar - 1966 3) Order of Sukhbaatar - 1976. 4) Order of Labor Red Banner - 1961. 5) Order of Labor Red Banner - 1974. 6) Order of Labor Red Banner - 1986. As the researcher pointed out: "Two Orders of Sukhbaatar and one ORBLV were awarded on Jamyan's birthdays which was a common practice among the Mongolian leaders (and Soviet too). This proves that Jamyan was within the inner circle of Party and Government leaders." His Labor Hero decree was not able to be located. One of the Labor Red Banners was awarded specifically in recognition of his role in successful organisation of crop and vegetable harvesting drives. The Government attached great importance to this issue because of volume of logistics involved and very short period of crop season (and high risks of losing the entire crops due to cold and changeable weather). That work may have also hugely contributed to the decision to bestow him the Labor Hero.
