MJC
Hello, I picked up this battered bar and I would like to solicit opinions. As I understand it, this is an NCO's bar but I am having difficult identifying the Loyal Service medal's ribbon. Is this a correct combination, and can someone speculate as to whom might have received this bar? The Hindenburg cross is broken, and it appears a repair was attempted using addition ribbon wrapped around the back. Is it better to leave it as it is, or attempt a repair? Any comments are appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Deruelle
Hi Mike, For me this is a strange medal bar. There is a little red alert when I see non combattant medals and a Hindenburg cross with X. Your man is an NCO. All ribbon is ok. Christophe
MJC
Thanks Christophe, Since the 1st, 2nd and 5th medals were issued, or could have been issued, prior to the war, is it not possible he could have been a later combatant, but not won the EKII? I know nothing of the 3rd medal so my speculation may be way off. Thanks for your comments. Edited June 22, 2011 by Mike Constandy
saschaw
Your explanation seems fine to me. Unfortunately, he wear's only the ribbon of Coburg and Gotha long service medal, but a Prussian medal to it. This is a thing that is seen rather often, even with Baden, Württemberg and so.
