Markgraf Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Hi for everyone! This CDV made in Vienna by photographer Georg Wassmuth. The soldier is definetly not Austro-Hungarian, but I've no idea about his nationality...please help!
TacHel Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Doesn't the shape of the crown scream Belgium?
Djedj Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Bonjour, Late reply ! But I think Greek Cavalry Officer in undress. See some full dress pics here : http://www.hussards-photos.com/Grece_home.htm Meilleures salutations, Jerome
Veteran Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I would not know exactly what nationality this uniform could be, It could be Belgian or Greek, But most likely; NOT FRENDH; Let's hope we get the exact answer.... Best regards Veteran
Markgraf Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) Thank You for the useful thoughts! It is an old mystery... The details in bigger size, might be useful: Edited March 25, 2013 by Markgraf
Djedj Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Bonjour, Here is a slightly later Greek Cavalry Officer in undress : Cap style is different - more modern, but my Cabinet Photo is likely c. 1895-1900. Your CDV bears a likeness to King Gorgios 1st btw. I'm not 100% here, but that could be him - and then a CDV from anywhere in Europe would make much sense. Salutations, Jerome
Rogi Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Serbian, Croatian, Romanian, Hungary (Husarenregiment Graf von Hadik Nr. 3) They look similar to me: http://ww1photographs.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/austrian-group.jpg?w=620 I'll try to grab some other pics
Markgraf Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 Up to now the Greek seems most probably to me but the cap badge...
