artillery killed the jacket... but he was killed 2 months later (He had sent the jacket home by then.

I think he survived the shredding unscathed (was not on at the time).

He died in an assault a couple of months later.

That is one heck of a find. I dont know how I missed seeing this before now. What type of environment was it found it? Was it wadded up in a corner or on a shelf? It must have been a perfect balance of humidity. Just hard to believe that something would survive that well inside of an unmonitored and unkept area.

I think this is got to be one of the best Imperial tunics I have seen. You see tons of Field Grey tunics with no story, possibly a name. But this one was there!!! When you see stuff like this, it makes me realize why I love this hobby. The history behind a tunic like this is worth ten un named field grey hussar/uhlan/jager tunics. Thanks for preserveing it Chris! Love the article too

A quick question... does anyone have a pair of the Collar buttons a baden NCO would have worn? or would Prussian be OK?

Condition wise the buttons fit perfecly... period to the jacket are a znic and a brass company button for the shoulder straps.
