Chris Boonzaier Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 What killed him? Artillery? Hi, artillery killed the jacket... but he was killed 2 months later (He had sent the jacket home by then. Best Chris
Laurence Strong Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Thanks Chris. Was it wounds from the Artillery or new injuries? It sure shredded the tunic!
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 Hi, I think he survived the shredding unscathed (was not on at the time). He died in an assault a couple of months later.
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 OK, its finally done.... http://www.kaiserscross.com/136501/414985.html
Paul R Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 That is one heck of a find. I dont know how I missed seeing this before now. What type of environment was it found it? Was it wadded up in a corner or on a shelf? It must have been a perfect balance of humidity. Just hard to believe that something would survive that well inside of an unmonitored and unkept area.
Chris Liontas Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I think this is got to be one of the best Imperial tunics I have seen. You see tons of Field Grey tunics with no story, possibly a name. But this one was there!!! When you see stuff like this, it makes me realize why I love this hobby. The history behind a tunic like this is worth ten un named field grey hussar/uhlan/jager tunics. Thanks for preserveing it Chris! Love the article too
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 A quick question... does anyone have a pair of the Collar buttons a baden NCO would have worn? or would Prussian be OK?
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Condition wise the buttons fit perfecly... period to the jacket are a znic and a brass company button for the shoulder straps.
