Robin Lumsden Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Conventional wisdom is that the Diamonds to the RK were made by Otto Klein of Hanau. So ................ does this change things ?? ;)
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Not being up on diamonds, give me a hint, what are we looking for? Best Chris
Robin Lumsden Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 http://ironcross.vpweb.nl/1905-to1941-laws---regulations.html
Robin Lumsden Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 The OK mark was always shown as Klein. It is, in fact, Keune & Co. Textbooks will require to be rewritten!
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Ahhhh.... OK, I remember now, have not looked at anything RK for years. That is interesting. Best Chris
Robin Lumsden Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 It sure is. Who is going to tell the guru? Tin hats on, chaps.
Robin Lumsden Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Thanks to Don D. for posting this info in the 'other place'. :jumping:
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 It sure is. Who is going to tell the guru? Tin hats on, chaps. Lets keep this cordial, and avoid gloating. This has been accepted by everyone up until now... including you ;-)
Robin Lumsden Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Lets keep this cordial, and avoid gloating. This has been accepted by everyone up until now... including you ;-) Korrekt, Chris. But I don't purport to be an expert on the Knight's Cross. I posted this as an education for everyone .............. not to gloat. I have made mistakes in my books in the past and have admitted my errors. Some others portray themselves as infallible. That's the issue. Anyway, another learning point for all concerned. No names, no pack drill. :)
hagahr Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I am glad to see in this thread , issue's and info is handled with care ,,,and a mature open minded view . it makes me happy to see and confidant to keep up my site . regards kay Iron cross - Home
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Well.... seems this claim has been quite neatley shot down... Dietrich was able to poke it full of holes in the time it took him to enjoy a cup of coffee. So Klein is back in poll position, The document is interesting, but certain caeats apply when comparing things. Best Chris
hagahr Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) well Chris and all others. I found out about these threads very late and didn't understand it as I am not in to 1939 items at all . and I was surprised about the conclusions in the beginning as well as the outcome want to say ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, its not bad at all ,,,,just a learning experience that should tell us that a firm logo presented not automatically means it was used as stamp . al do in the list ,,,,,,,obvious silver stamps are pictured ,,, ( that is the confusion part off these lists ) and the details off these logo's indeed matter,,,,,,,,,,,, and can be Moore then just one story . its to sad do that some colleges using the opportunity to use strong blaming and degrading words in a case that is just an misjudgement off data what is a perfectly human and logical thing as this kind off data is not present on the internet anywhere so ... it is logic we all have to learn how careful we have to analyse these things to be sure . and not getting carry'' d away by enthusiasm to much , a valuable lesson fore future presentations as there is more in the barrel ..and we are all equals in the same boat . regards kay ,,,( and thanks ) Edited January 4, 2012 by hagahr
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 its not bad at all ,,,,just a learning experience that should tell us that a firm logo presented not automatically means it was used as stamp . That is the whole thing in a nutshell.... The Logo and the stamp do not need to correspond... and just matching the companys initials to the stamp on a ring can go pretty wrong as well. This list is a great find, but it is raw data that needs careful interpretation. best Chris
mametz Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Yes looks like there has been some gun jumping and foot shooting, not to mention a lot of egg on face but we all make mistakes Regards Mametz
Robin Lumsden Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 So Klein is back in poll position. Best Chris Thank God. I won't have to re-write the book after all. :)
