First of all I'd like to thank you for these photos of Nogi's awards from your old thread.

    I mean THANK YOU!

Even with this angle this is of course type 1 from my unpublished () classification for 1st and 2nd class golden kites.

Dusty, but still beautiful! In a very nice condition, from my point of view, for wearied Meiji 1st class set!

    And what a holder!!!

    Priceless set!!!

    Cheers,

    Nick

I wish the sash was availble for viewing (it may be gone actually) and the rosette! I am somewhat surprised that they do not better care for these items, but perhaps they wish to simply leave them untouched. Definitely one the Golden Kites worth a small fortune, but agree with you - PRICELESS!! Simply awesome really when you think about it and the incredible, incredible history behind it!!

Perhaps, but then why not display it like the Sacred Treasure one?

Because they didn't display anything :)

They just opened the boxes and that's all.

The spacer between 1st and 2nd floor of meiji box for 1st class sacred treasure allowed you to see part of the sash. In kite box this spacer cover all surface of the box ;)
