How does one research an Imperial Unit?

    Recommended Posts

A Hannoverian regiment, with troops from the Prussian province of Hannover and the Duchy of Braunschweig (Brunswick).

There is a regimental history: Königlich Preußisches Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 78 im Weltkrieg 1914/1918, by Hanns Möller, published in 1937. Worldcat shows copies in the New York Public Library and at UC-Riverside, as well as various German libraries.

This was in the 19 Reserve Division... In April they had fought in Champagne... may moved to the eastern front... were then in Reserve and training until the end of August... September fighting in the battle at Riga... so either this was a catch up award for the Champagne... or he managed to do something in the time they were in reserve... Maybe the Regt History would clear it up, but it is a long shot.

    best

What a great thread you have here.

Would you have any information on Res. (F.) Artl. Mun. Kol. 52, 44 Res. Div. ?

I have a Militaerpass with many interesting entries related to that unit (particularly Kampfe am Toter Mann, Stellungkampfe in den Argonnen).
