westfale Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 HI! Does anyone of you have information about Marinejustizrat Johannes Marquardt, born 18.09.1900 at Kiel? I'm not shure about his rank and the branch, but on the picture i have he is wearing the dress of an korvettenkapitän with not really seen branch - looks like "military justice"... It would be great to get some more information about him, so thanks very much for help westfale
hucks216 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) Unfortunately he isn't listed in Lohmann & Hildebrand's Die Deutsche Kriegsmarine Vol III, nor is he listed on the KM crew list site or in the Volksbund database. Edited September 13, 2012 by hucks216
westfale Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 Ohh - that's bad But thanks for your try to help! Here's the picture of him with the uniform I'm not 100% shure about the correct rank... regards westfale
hucks216 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) You have the rank correct. Three stripes is a Korvettenkapitän (2 & a half stripes would be a Kapitänleutnant and 4 stripes is a Fregattenkapitän). I can't quite make out the full details of the sleeve eagle on the cuff but if it is 2 stripes under the eagle than he is a 'Verwaltungsbeamte des gehobenen Dienstes'. This is the best detailed picture - for me 2 stripes, so he must be a "Verwaltungsbeamter des gehobenen Dienstes". In this case, is the "Marinejustizrat" correct? Thanks again westfale
hucks216 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I'm afraid that the 'Beamte' area of the Wehrmacht isn't something I know much about so can't be of much help but I would think the Administrator side could cover many different branches.
Odulf Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Hi Westfale, The assumptions are correct (Verwaltungsbeamter der gehobene Dienst), but Justitzbeamter had a double upturned chevron, so that's no option. Can you be 100% sure the photo connects to the info?
westfale Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 (edited) The man on the picture is Johannes Marquardt, born 18.9.1900 at Kiel/Germany, according to an document with another picture of him, but the info about his position isn't verified, so there can be a misunderstood in his branch. But why he can not be found in the KM lists? Are there no "Verwaltungsbeamte" listened? Edited September 15, 2012 by westfale
