JapanX
This one simply priceless! Order of St. Alexander Nevsky 1st class. Ordinary version of the order is a rarity... And here we have "non-Christian" version in mint condition ...
fukuoka
Thanks Nick. I didn't know the rarity of the Russian orders. The Wikipedia page says this was awarded to Russian citizens. Incorrect? Edited January 8, 2013 by fukuoka
JapanX
To a very very high ranking "russian citizens" Rich! Not unique, but definitely much more rare than St. Anna and more rare than White Eagle. But in this condition (tell you the truth I don't think that our hero wore it much ) and with this attribution - pretty close to unique
fukuoka
Another medal and document. Sorry that these foreign medals are on the Japan forum. Is it OK to continue with more? Since Okuma received them, I thought it was appropriate.

pieter1012
Richard, thank you for the very nice pictures of Okuma's foreign orders which clearly have been very well kept throughout the years. The french one is the Grandcross of the Legion of Honour, and the other one is the Grandcross of the order of the Iron Crown of Austria (empire).
