JapanX Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 ..., do you have a photo that could reasonably pass for Erast Petrovich Fandorin? Aha! Imaginary characters No problem! Composite drawing can be found here http://www.fandorin.ru/fandorin/photorobot.html Now we all should be on a lookout for a photo of guy that looks more or less like this Best, Nick
Mathomhaus Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Nick: Most excellent! Many thanks. Regards
JapanX Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Was looking through my old auction catalogues yesterday and found this interesting photo

JapanX Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Ensign Lusin Alexander Ivanovich (only one for "zeal" but entourage )
JapanX Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 Now that`s really interesting! Three "for zeal" + St. George Cross + Bulgarian cross "for bravery"
JapanX Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) According to the paper cut he is a standart-bearer Mikhail Kazakov. Edited August 14, 2014 by JapanX

Mathomhaus Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 A most impressive gentleman! I am interested by his hat, court sword and collar insignia. Any guesses as to his title or rank? (Even if I can find something similar in one of my reference books, it will certainly be explained in formal, lawyerly Russian words that I'll be clueless to translate.) Thanks not only for this but also for the threads on priests and aviation donation jettons, too. Regards
JapanX Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 Most likely he is from department of custom fees / департамент таможенных сборов

Mathomhaus Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Thank you. Those were obviously the days to be a customs officer! All of the Russian customs agents that I've seen in person were in very nondescript, rumpled uniforms that they may have slept in. They certainly weren't bearing swords! Regards
