Poulton Palmer Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Hello gentlemen, I acquired these a few months ago. I know what all the ribbons stand for, but can't find out what the small one consists off (the third one). Is this something from Lippe-Detmold? Greetings from Poulton Palmer
Guest Rick Research Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 The first ribbon on that is Baden 40 years volunteer fire department 1920-34
Paul R Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I have never seen anything like that first ribbon on the two place bar.
Guest Rick Research Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 The second ribbon on the 2-bar is Baden Feuerwehr Medaille für 25 Jahre treue Dienste 1919-1936 of the Badischer Landes-Feuerwehr Verband--unofficial as opposed to the state-created 40. (The 25 however is an exceptionally fine design and quality from the looks of it.) These are #s 8 and 9, pages 26-27 in Gert Efler's 1988 "Deutsche Feuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen 1802--jetzt," Edition Deutsches Ordensmuseum. Thankfully there are colored ribbon charts for the non-state awardss!
Paul R Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Wow Thanks Rick. Are these charts on line? Would these have continued to have been worn after 1933?
Guest Rick Research Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 From 1988? Time travel, kiddo--you had to be there, it only goes one way. The top ribbon bar is certainly one that on some bright future day MIGHT be traceable--double Prussian Red Cross Medals, Baden & Saxon-- a nice combination of Red Cross related awards not often seen.
saschaw Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Very nice ones, especially the Baden fire fighter... if that should ever leave you... The second ribbon on the 2-bar is Baden Feuerwehr Medaille für 25 Jahre treue Dienste 1919-1936 of the Badischer Landes-Feuerwehr Verband--unofficial as opposed to the state-created 40. Actually, the medal was for more than 40, but not yet 50 years of service, to fill the gap from the state medal (40 years) to the enemaled Verbands cross (50 years).
Poulton Palmer Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 Gentlemen, thank you very much for your replies and info. Nice to know the 2-er is from Baden. I could never have found that for myself! Greetings, Poulton
