Nothing on the private photograph! :banger:

    Awards: HSU over

    1) Order of Lenin, Order of Red Banner (perhaps for 20 years service),Order of Patriotic War 2nd Class

    2) two Orders of the Red Star (1 certainly for 15 years service), Bravery Medal

    3) Military MERIT Medal*** (certainly for 10 years service), Lenin 197o Jubile, Victory Over Germany

    4) 1965 Victory Jubilee, ??? Budapest maybe ???, 1948 Armed Forces Jubilee (so still active duty)

    5) 1958 Armed Forces Jubilee (so still active and no long service medals, so "old system" awards for that), 1968 Armed Forces Jubilee

*** No, I will go to my grave refusing to call the Medal "Za Boeviye ZASLUGI" "Combat Service"--

    a) probably 3/4 of them were for 10 years long service and often after the war in peacetime so Z-E-R-O "combat" involved and

    b) "Zasluga" is "MERIT" N-O-T "SLUZHBA" "SERVICE." Drives me crazy when German "Verdienst" = "MERIT" is also mis-translated as "Service" = "DIENST."

I do not care if Vladimir Bezrubashkogo Putin and the entire Russian Federation insist on mis-translating "merit" as "service" they're all W-R-O-N-G and I shall never yield--never!!!!! :violent:

 Thank you indeed-- I never did get the 1987 (?) Encyclopedia of Heroes.

Oh, THAT. I forget that was while I was visiting from offline-- I thought I had to do this--Ich kann nicht anders--for a new, post-2010 generation, maybe not used to me and my ways. On this point, I am still correct. Forever.

You can find HSU rolls in the doc archive section.

No, my computer can't do Cyrillic, alas.

So true, just like Jeremiah in the wilderness. Igor Moiseyev just laughs at my... Stand-and-Die stubbornness... but my cats laugh at me too. I am tough enough to survive it.

Someday I will have statues as The Lone Voice Who saved THREE languages from ruin. They laughed at Galileo, too.
