Gensui Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Gents, I’m proud to show you my latest acquisition: a cased Manchurian Enthronement Commemorative Medal. Hope you like it? BR, Chris
Gensui Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 I guess, some "chemical" (?) polish on the surface as well. Especially the back side looks like treatend by any acid/polishing...
Paul R Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 How many people were awarded this medal? Was it only for Japanese Kwantung Army personnel?
JapanX Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) I guess, some "chemical" (?) polish on the surface as well. Especially the back side looks like treatend by any acid/polishing... Yep, please send this one to me ... For testing ... Edited September 21, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) How many people were awarded this medal? Was it only for Japanese Kwantung Army personnel? According to the statute this medal was awarded to those who were invited to Enthronement or performed official duties during Enthronement. Also prime minister office could award anybody at discretion ;) Edited September 21, 2013 by JapanX
utopis Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Looks rather hand polished. Chemicals would remove a patina evenly and in the deepest spots. But here the deeper areas aren't cleaned. That's were a cloth (or whatever was used) can't reach the surface.
JapanX Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Looks like you are not kidding around around guys

Maybe some special cotton, which is used for silver necklace etc. Yep, please send this one to me ... For testing ... @Nick, Well, you can come to visit me here and have a look at my slowly growing collection
Gensui Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 How many people were awarded this medal? Was it only for Japanese Kwantung Army personnel? Paul, I will dig into my sources and will try to find some figures. But I am sure, it won't be easy to figure out any figures or numbers!
JapanX Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 "Slowly growing collection?"?! We certainly will need a new definition for "slow growth"
Gensui Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 "Slowly growing collection?"?! We certainly will need a new definition for "slow growth" Come over here and we'll discuss with a nice glass (or two, or three?) of red wine!
