Jakob Seerup
Same uniform as yesterday. I forgot to include a picture of this emblem - the one to the right. Might it be from a military academy or something similar?
JapanX
Looks like Nikolai II Coronation badge. Established on February 8, 1896. I bet the medallion ring has inscription "Москва Май 1896 года/ Moscow May 1896" with two gold monograms of Nikolai II and Alexandra Fedorovna (HII - A) This badge was issued to persons directly involved in preparation and organization of coronation. Cheers, Nick
Jakob Seerup
Thanks! That sounds very probable. The recipient had been personal teacher of military tactics to Nicholas II, and their personal relation seems to have been quite friendly. It is absolutely possible that he had some role in the coronation. Sorry about the quality of the picture. I hope to get to see the original soon. JapanX
That sounds very probable. This is definitely coronation badge, since Moscow - May - 18 .. - Year and (partly) monograms are visible
ccj
Will you share photos of the entire tunic?
Jakob Seerup
I am currently in contact with the owner, and I don't have his permission - just needed to identify the orders and medals. It won't likely come up for sale, but I will share photos when I have had a personal look at it sometime in November. I don't think there are many complete uniforms around with perfect provenance and unspoiled orders and medals. How often do such uniforms appear, you think?
