Ulsterman Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Um...what sort of medal rack? there are some odd DRK ranks/positions/titles out there.
spolei Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Hello Ed, the ending will be ...verein ... ( club). Please, show a picture of the name.
E Williams Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) What can't be seen is Thür. ßaubes männ..... Edited December 5, 2013 by E Williams
E Williams Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) From all sorts of research, Saxe-Weimer was made up with three provinces and Thurgia was one of them but also after the war, it was more Thuringin than Saxe-Weimer Edited December 5, 2013 by E Williams

E Williams Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 BTW, I have searched and searched and searched and I've not been able to find another example anywhere. I have found something similar but instead of the Red Cross being abbreviated. It is spelled out and I've only found two of those.

Thanks.Going back to the rack, the EKII was for wartime service but the Saxe-Weimar, Silver Merit Cross was only issued up to 1901. correct? If so, this guy was all over the place, 1901, 1914-1918, 1925 and 1922. Am I wrong in my thoughts? When you said 1922+, does that means the years or when it began to be awarded?
E Williams Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Are you sure, I copied and pasted and it came up with this:http://www.ehrenzeichen-orden.de/c/weimarer-republik/rotes-kreuz-landesvereine
Rogi Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Check the 2nd page, almost the exact same order/medal just much thinner and with enamel, maybe from an earlier time period?

E Williams Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 I can't even find anything with that ribbon. I'm sure it's somewhere.
Ulsterman Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) Holy Cow!! that's an awesome little 1871 veterans' bar. is it yours? :0 Going back to the first medal bar, the wording will be:"Thur. Landesmaennerverein v.(on) R.Kr." (roterKreuz) ....aNd below the cross "Fuer truer Mitarbeit" (one adds an e to a word in German where there's an umlaut and one does not have that phonic symbol upon ones iPhone) . The medal was awarded in 1922-1935 (maybe longer in the Third Reich, but doubtful). I think it was authorized in 1921. The other medal Rogi pointed out on pg. 2 is for a different State DRK association. Edited December 5, 2013 by Ulsterman
Ulsterman Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 By the way, there is the same medal, a single, for sale on ebay.de now for 150 Euros. Safe to say its a $125 medal alone.
