IrishGunner Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I just got this in the mail today... An artillery Junior Sergeant with the Order of Red Star, Order of Glory, and Bravery Medal. I wonder if this is a propaganda photo that someone may have seen before... My copy is a post card; I'm also wondering what's written on the back.
JapanX Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) Baranov Ivan + Number of field post station 686091-A ? Strange number ... After February 6, 1943 field stations got 5-digit codes. Before February 6, 1943 - 4-digit codes were in use. Edited December 7, 2013 by JapanX
Ferdinand Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 It's probably not a field post number but some kind of filing number. I have hundreds of Soviet-era photos, both formal and informal ones, that have some kind of number on the back.
JapanX Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 It's probably not a field post number but some kind of filing number. Yes, it could be something else ...
Ferdinand Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 P.S. Underneath his last name we can see the year (1944)... I don't see the word "Ivan"
JapanX Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Yes, indeed it is 1944 г (with 9 written as 8) Damn this running hand
IrishGunner Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 Thank you gentlemen...appreciate the feedback
