Chris Boonzaier Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 A nice document given at acceptance into the association...
Chip Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Chris, I'm guessing that the Leiberring was a wartime thing and not given by the association in the postwar period. I recall seeing a Sterbebild with a mention of the ring. Chip

I recall seeing a Sterbebild with a mention of the ring. Chip The Ring is my dream... it was exclusively for people who had a certain amount of real combat time (I think it was 24 months? I forget... when i am back near my books I can look)... I would kill for an other ranks one, and kill twice for an officers one (Have not even seen a pic of the latter!!!)
Chip Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Man! Chris! The list of things you'd kill for is getting pretty long!
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 But I am talking about flies!
spolei Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 But I am talking about flies! Hello Chris, do you know this link? http://www.kriegsopfer.org/Weltkrieg/Infanterie_Leib_Regiment/Leiberring.htm The owners are soldiers and NCO's. There only one ore two Leutnants. Cheers Andreas
It seems it was for just under 60 officers.
spolei Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) Hello Chris, do you have a photo of the officer's ring? I know only the regular ring. Edited December 18, 2013 by spolei
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Hi, I have only ever seen a bad photo of thr regular one, have never seen a real officers one, or even a photo of one.
spolei Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Hello, here is a postcard of the 100 aniversary of the Leibregiment. The picture shows the uniforms of the beginning. Look at the stamp, it is from the "Leiberverein Aschaffenburg".
IrishGunner Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Hello, here is a postcard of the 100 aniversary of the Leibregiment. The picture shows the uniforms of the beginning. Look at the stamp, it is from the "Leiberverein Aschaffenburg". Look at the guy to the left in the picture... He looks like a French Foreign Legion sapper with his beard, apron, and axe...
spolei Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 That was the "fashion" of the napoleonic aera. Bavaria fought with Napoleon until 1812.
taube Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I just stumbled over this thread: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/18932-alpenkorps-headgear-edelweiss/page-3?hl=leibregiment The man in post #51 could be wearing a Leiberring. Maybe Naxos can show another closeup?
