Lion101 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Hello Everyone, I pick this insignia with a RG grouping that was brought back from the Gulf War ( 1990- 1991). Does anyone know what it could be for?
Paul R Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 We have a couple of members who can translate this. I look forward to seeing what it is.
Paul R Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Thanks Dan. Lets see the rest of the insignia.
ChrisW Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Dave is correct, they do say "commandos" (maghawir). There are several Arabic words which translate as commandos and are more widely used. I've only seen the Lebanese Army use the term maghawir. Here's a pic of a Lebanese maghawir insignia I found on this blog: http://histoiredesforceslibanaises.wordpress.com/
Lion101 Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 Hello everyone, Thank you everyone for your help to this forum and are those insignias, south Lebanese army? Here is the pic of everything that I had pick up from the group, everything but the RG uniform.
Paul R Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Thanks for the in depth explanation Chris. Most likely those tabs were imported into Iraq? Nice lot of insignia Lion. Were they purchased from a vendor or liberated directly?
