Jock Auld Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Guys, Not fancy and such a shame that these appear to have been removed from an album recently. I thought the WW1 ribbon bar fans may enjoy the genarals picture (Maj Gen Solroth???). The helmet the major is wearing just looks rubbish, maybe one of those fibre parade lids? Nice early insignia on the hats! Jock:)
hucks216 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Pity indeed that an album was split up. With regards to the helmet, I know nothing about German helmets but could that be a WW-1 issue that was used during the early days of the Third Reich?
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I am guessing it is an aluminium Parade Helmet?
Jock Auld Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Hucks, I am no expert either but in the interwar years they produced lightweight helmets such as these for parade purposes (in both WW1 style and m35), like Chris states, in aluminium and in fibre. Note the line of the brim which is very uneven and the very forward facing rivets to secure the liner and lastly the chin strap looks like the sort on civil helmets that have a sliding double buckle affair. Chris, probably, but definately not standard issue? Do you like the Generals portrate? Jock:)
Jock Auld Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 I have tried to post the ribbon bar to stop everyone squinting!
