And nooo I didn´t buy it It was awarded to Swedish Count Carl Birger Mörner , he died 1930 in my hometown...... Christer
Kvart Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Very nice. Do you know what medals or orders it's missing? And why do so many Swedish medal groups have their high ranking awards removed?
paul wood Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I believe the answer to the latter part of your question is that the orders should be returned to the Central Chancery on the death of the recipient.Paul
christerd Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Yes , Paul has the answer . He had a Wasa Order probably in Gold wich was returned on his dead in 1930. Christer
Kvart Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Yes, of course. It makes sense that the orders had to be returned, as is common for some Scandinavian orders. But I did not know that Swedish orders should be returned, I thought it was only St. Olav and Dannebrog. However, with the Danish Dannebrog it is usually only the insignia that is returned, while the ribbon is still left in the group. But for Swedish orders both insignia and ribbon are returned?
Great Dane Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I think it's a matter of what tools you have at hand. I have a Swedish group where the Orders of Vasa, North Star and Dannebrog have been returned and all ribbons are just cut with a pair of scissors. /Michael
