Hauptmann Wegener

Hi everyone,

So there was this picture of a Hauptmann Wegener sold on ebay recently, and it was stated that he was in the Fliegertruppe.

It is possible that this man was from FAR 39. Does anyone know more about his WW1 career?

Hi all, 

Just reviving this old thread. Here is the man in question, and I have also attached a document of Kasta 18 signed by a Hptm Wegener. Are they the same person? Any additional info is welcomed

Hptm dR Kurt Wegener from GGR 3 was the commander old Old* KG 3/18 during the later part of 1916.

*It later existed a second unit with the same name.

He was a well known physican, Dr, Prof. and he also received the Hohx

Kurt Friedrich Wegener (1878--1964) was also an Alter Adler, he received his civilian Flugzeuglizenz (# 796) on 22 June 1914. He was also, together with his brother, a world record holder with the Freiballon. Is this the same Hauptmann der Reserve? He was not a physician, although, he studied natural sciences and was Prof. Dr. phil. I would love to know more about his decorations!

Hello all, 

Many thanks for your replies. I suspected he had the HOH3x, but I couldn't find confirmation anywhere. I also have him as CO of FA 4 in May 1917, but I don't know how long he stayed in this unit. 

His brother Alfred is interesting too. He also appears to have had come connection with the air service....
