Jock Auld Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Guys,The early style without the German flag on the bottom of the oak wreath. Sadly missing 2 pins and a bit rough at the front but I suppose these are now getting on a bit too!Jock
Paul R Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Classic design, that is for sure. What year did they start putting the flag on the badge? What color is the appropriate beret? Green or red?
aubagne98 Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Hi there, this is the badge of an colonel, I took this photo 2014 at the Swiss 2-day-march. He told me that the badge is from the 1970s, when he enlisted. Michael
Jock Auld Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Michael,Thanks for the info, can't see any picture though? So you are saying Col rank had a badge without the German flag on it, is this a general rule or just paras?CheersJock
aubagne98 Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Hi, I think you know that there are only three insignias without flag.In my opinion (I do not know it exactly) the older ones are still wearing their "Without flag" insignia, because it looks better. But I do not know what the ZDv 37/10 says. Here the most soldiers of the German-French-Brigade wear the French type without the flag, mostly because this insignia is made in chrome-style. The chef-en-second once told me, that he wears the French and the commander, a French, wears the German with flag, because of showing their respect to each other. Michael
The Prussian Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 (edited) Hello! Those beret-badges were introduced in 1969, when the Jäger recieved the green beret, the paras (Luftlandetruppe = Fernmelder and Parachutists) a bordeaux-red one, and the tank-troops a black one.The national-flag came out in 1979.Here is the ZDv 37/10 with a supplementation from 2014ZDv 37-10.pdfZDv 37-10 Ergänzung 2014.pdf Edited April 25, 2015 by The Prussian
Jock Auld Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 No, I did not know as post war stuff is not really my thing. I have a few pals that collect it. I will ask them then what the other two are.One of them told me that these were early badges without the flag, that is his belief, I shall break it to him gently!CheersJock
