Thomas' pin was horizontal as opposed to your vertical one, and the catch was different from yours. The obverse looks identical, and the enamel on your example looks period to me. My opinion is that your badge is a period original. Best Regards, Erik
Peter BL Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Hi Erik...thanks for responding. It's not actually my badge...but hoping it will be soon

Peter BL Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Any thoughts on this one guys. The emblem for U247. And is this type of pin and catch assembly period to the time. Thanks in advance....Peter http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2011/post-3147-0-04597500-1319906093.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2011/post-3147-0-23633200-1319906101.jpg
Erik Krogh Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) Peter, This one looks bad to me. Enamel does not appear period, pin not right. Best Regards, Erik Edited October 29, 2011 by Erik Krogh

Erik Krogh Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) Also Peter, I have never seen a real 1st U-Flottille style pin in red. The accepted originals are blue. I have seen a lot of fakes in red. Here's mine for comparison. Erik Edited October 29, 2011 by Erik Krogh
