spartan Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Hello,I saw this Gold Star SN. 4832 on ebay with historical research certificate. But I noticed the signature and format on this certificate is a little different from other certificate posted on www.collectrussia.com. What do you think of this certificate or Gold Star? Thank you.Sapartan
Paul R Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 It looks the part to me! Very nice! I'd love to have a complete group with this, but dont have a house to sell yet.
slava1stclass Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Gents, Five years ago, this HSU gold star medal was in the collection of a respected and currently active forum member. Uncertain if it has since changed hands. Regards, slava1stclass
Gunner 1 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Can't comment on the authenticity but the award is to the major general commanding the 350th Rifle Division for the crossings of the Western Bug, San and Visla Rivers in July 1944. He also received three Orders of Lenin, four Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of Suvorov, 2nd Class, two Orders of Patriotic War, 1st Class and some foreign medals.
paul wood Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Obviously subject to detailed inspection I can see nothing obviously wrong with HSU. Paul
Ferdinand Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 This HSU star is in the collection of a fellow forum member. Both the star and the certificate are completely original.
spartan Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 (edited) Hi everyone, Thank you for your reply. Simply for curiosity, does anybody notice that there are at least three different styles of McDaniel's signature on the Historical Research certificate? Sapartan Edited August 2, 2016 by spartan
Ferdinand Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I'm sure that if you look at any random person's signature over an eight-year period you're going to see minor evolvement. It's perfectly natural. I wouldn't call these "styles".
paul wood Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 My signature vary considerably, very much based on alcohol consumed. Paul
NavyFCO Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 I don't know who owns this Gold Star, but it looks totally fine to me, as does the certificate. With as much stuff as I sign on a regular basis, from signing documents in my real job to autographing books, my signature varies throughout each day depending on my level of caffeine intake (let alone alcohol!) LOL
