New medal for Iraq?

Operations in against IS in Iraq have been ongoing for well over 12 months now, is there any word on whether a medal is likely to be awarded for it?

No and still nothing on the GSM 08.......

I think that we would simply go with the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Service Medal.

Trouble is  Paul in the UK we declared end of mission.....

Can they reestablish the same medal if needed, with a clasp?  Like the GSM?

No the statutes and criteria cannot be brought back which is how we can still issue Afghan medals even though main combat operations have ceased

With the impending mission creep into Syria as well, may cause issues with regards to clasps and the like?

I have alway thought  that the issue of  medals and perceived political achievement  go hand in hand which is why Libya got nothing from the UK...also a political party would not reward its citizens when the action was under another parties "watch"  for they may be condoning the said action.....cost plays a small part as does who maybe entitled, those with "generals" are more likely to get something as they can "lobby" the paymasters
