christerd Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Here is my newest addition to my collection, a simple looking medal but very seldom seen It is the medal for Peasants March against communism July 7th 1930 , it was the extreme right wing Lappo Movement who organized a march to Helsinki with 12 000 people. How many medals that where struck is unknown to me,but since the Lappo was banned in 1932 I suppose not many of these medals was saved. Christer
Claudius Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Wow! That medal is connected to an important period in Finnish history. I could see it in a Helsinki museum that has a display on the uprising.
FRE_A_K Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 10 000 medals were made in Turku. Quite common imo. The man pictured on the obverse is Vihtori Kosola. There are also a few other collectable items releated to Lapua Movement. - Vili
Christian J Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) Does it have an engraving on the rim? I bought one and to my surprise it was engraved to a Swedish speaking captain. I guess that it's a private commission? I've heard they were intolerant to the Swedish speaking population but I think that's an after construction. I also bought a small print, a recruitment pamphlet in Swedish, from the same seller. Edited March 30, 2016 by Christian J
