Another coincidence. I have a small photo lot of the Artillerie-Mechaniker in your wedding portrait.

He can be seen in the Prinz Eugen photo I posted earlier.

See photo and another wedding portrait of the same couple.

    Cheers,

    Larry

Very nice photo. Your great description of his insignia has answered the question I asked in post #35

Thanks very much for the nice words.:)

Writing on the back of the photo says: Ernst 1942.

Here is another form the series. There is the date of 1943 on the back.

He wears the EK2 ribbon and has been promoted to Obergefreiter. No trade specialty badge this time.

    Cheers,

    Larry

Very nice photos. Twin brothers with same rank, MS badges and Funker badges. Were brothers allowed to serve on the same ship in the Kriegsmarine?

Here is another from my collection. MS badge and wearing a Bootsmann trade badge.

    Cheers,

    Larry

Some did wear the maximum of 2 special badges, obviously the combination of Geschützführer/Sperrvormann [Gun Captain/Blockade Weapons] was not uncommon for Bosun's Mates.

Nice photo. The young man certainly had a lot of specialist trade badges.

Could the top badge be for a Spielmann? (Band Leader/Drum/Fife).

I have seen more than one variation of this badge.

Here are two more types of Spielmann badges. The badge at left is from my personal collection.

    Cheers,

    Larry

Hi Morten, from top to bottom:

3 Watch stripes on the left sleeve - 6. Division Backbordwache [6th Division of the Port Watch]

    Matrosenobergefreiter und Unteroffizier-Anwarter [Acting NCO]

    Unidentified

    Unidentified

Special badge for Motoren-Lehrgang III [Special training Engines III] a three bladed propellor

Could you give a better close up of his sleeve, perhaps that may reveal the two unidentified Specialty Badges.
