ccj Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Hello, whats your opinion on this tunic? Guard tunic or Aviation tunic?
The Prussian Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Hello! Black/red collars = Garde-Pioniere What about the shoulder boards?
ccj Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 The boards are Aviation. The tunic is either pioneer or technical branch weitze listed it but it's been shown before on a forum or two...
The Prussian Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Ah. Ok. So we have a aviation Tunis from an officer who served with the engeneer before. A lot of them wore there old tunics Since 1915 all enegneer officers had Garde-Litzen. So he could serve with a engeneer of the line bataillon too.
Bayern Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Hello : Its a curious tunic . coarse wool cloth , the litzen ,are not of quality , altough are officers type . In 1915 the litzen for Engineers as for the doctors were weared with the bluse , with the Kunftige Friedensuniform they weared larger litze braided .the pre war Flugbataillons weared the technical troops uniform .with white buttons and collar litzen, the officers shoulderboards have grey backing and a interior piping white , red , yellow or light blue according with the numeration .
ccj Posted September 5, 2017 Author Posted September 5, 2017 I'm not sure whether it's quality or wearcfrom use on the insignia. lve been looking at other officer guard tunics along with the ones in my collection.
Chip Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 I'm not crazy about those large winged props and it looks like there were pips on these boards at one time.
ccj Posted September 5, 2017 Author Posted September 5, 2017 Are the boards the only thing that worries? I'm not convinced the tunic was Aviation during WW1 but didn't see issue with the boards. I guess it does look like there were rank pips or something below the prop. images found on line... sorry but don't know whose they are.
Bayern Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 ccj : The last shoulderboards you have showed are of the first Fliegerbataillon , the officers ones for a Major, note the mouse grey backing and the white inner piping
ccj Posted September 7, 2017 Author Posted September 7, 2017 Thanks, it would be nice to own a pair of the early pattern flieger boards with double underlay...
ccj Posted October 21, 2017 Author Posted October 21, 2017 Does anyone else have opinions? I am about to cut the tumic loose loose for another opportunity
