03fahnen Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Hello, I need help years ago, buy this piece, in a lot of German Epauletten someone can help me identify if he is German, and from what unit? Thank you.
Bayern Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 It dont looks German , the use of braided numbers was not a German practice.
Fritz die Spinne Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 (edited) I retained these images for my Bavarian 10.IR archive, but this is not one I am well versed about. These are for a specific type of uniform, or may just dress up the usual uniform for certain events. I'd gather the 24.IR may have had this simple private purchase type, but is it a Bavarian specific style, or used by other German armies? Edited November 18, 2017 by Fritz die Spinne
clouseau Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 I have just read this thread. It is a Prussian epaulette from around 1825. 24th infantry regiment, located Neu-Ruppin and Prenzlau. Embroidered numbers with a dot behind were introduced in the year 1816. Since 1830 the numbers were made of metal. My photo shows a pair of epaulettes of the 20th infantry regiment, same period. These early versions are much more interesting to me than the late epaulets, but they are hard to find.
03fahnen Posted January 8, 2018 Author Posted January 8, 2018 thank you very much. Are they for officers or troop classes?
clouseau Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Epaulettes for officers (Seconde- and Premier-Lieutenant)
